BJP pulls out all stops on campaign trail for remaining phases of polling

NEW DELHI. The BJP pulled out all stops on the campaign trail for the remaining phases of polling. Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed three rallies in West Bengal and Jharkhand training his guns at Mamata Banerjee and the Left Front. BJP President Amit Shah campaigned in Bihar.

In the midst of the fifth phase of polling on Monday, PM Modi addressed three rallies in West Bengal and Jharkhand for seats that are going to the polls in the next phase. The PM recounted the achievements of his tenure and asked the voters to renew their mandate for the NDA.

At the first rally in Tamluk, West Bengal the PM targeted the Mamta Banejee led state Government, saying it did not have the interests of the common man at heart, unlike the BJP which stands with the common man, agriculture workers and youth. The PM said even children in West Bengal are well aware of the Triple T tax.

At his next rally in Jhargram, the Prime Minister hit out at the Left parties, saying that the communists had made insulting the epics Ramayana and Mahabharata, a regular feature of their discourse.

In Chaibasa Jharkhand, the Prime Minister listed the achievements of his government while attacking the opposition. Meanwhile, BJP President Amit Shah addressed six rallies in Bihar on Monday seeking support for NDA candidates. Amit Shah declared that only Prime Minister Narendra Modi had the ability to protect the country's security and bring about development, by improving the quality of life. He said the people have made up their minds to give PM Modi a fresh mandate.

UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath continued to campaign in Uttar Pradesh. Yogi Adityanath addressed panchayat heads in Gorakhpur.

Allegations and counter allegations continue to define the political slugfest in West Bengal. BJP fiercely blamed the Mamta Banerjee Government for electoral violence in the state.

And as the election makes its way to Delhi, the numbers of political affiliation changers is on the rise. AAP MLA Devendra Singh Sehrawat has joined the BJP, in the presence of senior BJP leaders. He is the second AAP legislator to join BJP in less than a week.
