FM Nirmala Sitharaman attends Income Tax Day event in New Delhi

NEW DELHI. Union Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs Nirmala Sitharaman on Wednesday presided as Chief Guest over an event organised by the Income Tax Department celebrating the Income Tax Day in New Delhi.

Union Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs Anurag Thakur was also present on the occasion.

Lauding the Income Tax Department, the Finance Minister said that Direct tax collection has increased significantly over the last 5 years while adding that the larger principle behind taxation is better and equal redistribution of wealth.

Emphasizing the importance of widening the tax base in the country, the Finance Minister said that all the departments of income tax should work together in tandem.
